What are Democracy Dollars?
The Democracy Dollars program is a form of public financing for campaigns wherein each registered voter in Austin would receive up to four Democracy Dollar certificates per election cycle.
Those Democracy Dollar certificates would be worth $25 each but could only be used to give as a contribution to eligible candidates.
The number of certificates a person receives would depend on the number of municipal contests on your ballot in that election cycle. For example, if your city council member was up for election and there was a mayoral race that year, you would receive four certificates.
If it was a non-mayoral year but you had a council race, you would only get two.
